When I was a kid we used to do quite a few things as a family – walks in the country, visiting relatives, scrabble (mum always won). Every weekend we went to church as a family, every day we read the bible and prayed as a family. Books were never far from anyone in the house and I’m glad to say that many of my Christian heroes are the heroes of my mum and dad and my sisters too. My first memory of Hudson Taylor was what inspired me to write the book Could Somebody Pass the Salt? The story of a mother forgetting to give her little boy his bowl of soup stuck in my mind. Family dinners were another important part of my childhood!
Having the same stories and heroes and heroines can be a wonderful part of family life.
Here are a few books about and by Hudson Taylor that you can read as a family.
