If there is one section of society that suffers during conflict it must be our children. It is today as we see the many boys and girls sheltering in refugee camps in Syria, and the thousands of boys and girls kidnapped by the followers of the LRA in Africa. The second world war saw thousands of children evacuated from the cities to the countries in the U.K. – I remember one man in my church as a child who was evacuated and never lived with his mother again. This book is a unique collection of memories from a Christian woman who was evacuated as a child to the Western Isles in Scotland. Her memories span the time of the Second World War that took her from childhood through to a young adult. These are the memories of a Christian woman who lived through that time. An invaluable resource when sharing what is in effect living history. May our children and their children read and learn from Christians like this who lived through those times and so that we can have a tomorrow they gave their todays.
Lest we forget!
