This week I’m going to put up several posts about books on the Christian Focus Publications book list that have links to Remembrance Day. The first two books are on one of my personal heroes Corrie ten Boom. When we remember the conflicts of the last century our minds are often drawn to the heroes and heroines. We wear poppies to remember them and watching the Remembrance Day concert played at the Albert Hall in London the other night was moving as you saw the last survivors of the military campaign and then the children of those who are putting their lives on the line today. But the heroes and heroines of the second world war were not just in the military. Corrie ten Boom was one of those second world war heroes who put her life on the line to save others. She did this by hiding Jews in her family home and by being an active part of the Dutch resistance. Corrie came out the other side to a life of sharing God’s word with the world… her sister and other family members did not.
