The latest addition to the Christian Focus torchbearer series is the biography of the Christian Martyr Nate Saint. My little nephew has just finished reading this and thouroughly enjoyed it. Some mothers have commented in the past that its not the easiest thing to get boys of a certain age to read books. Now my nephew does quite like books, but he’s rarely been as enthusiastic about a book as this. His enthusiasm in the past has been for Tin Tin books, or something about the Titanic or Ferrari. Why has he enjoyed this book so much then? Well Nate Saint is a real hero, boys identify with that. And Nate was a hands on sort of guy, taking planes apart and putting them back together again. The author doesn’t shy away from describing the nitty gritty of Nate’s technnical work on the mission – explaining how he came up with the idea for a new safety harness amongst other things. Nate Saint along with the other Auca Five has been influential through his life and death in inspiring other young men towards missionary service. It’s quite a story.
